Getting started

1
Download ChronoPill from the App Store and open the app.
2
Accept the legal disclaimer and complete the brief onboarding.
3
Add your medications via the + button on the Meds tab. Tap the barcode icon to scan a box, or type the name to search the local database.
4
Optional: turn on Super Lazy Mode in Settings > Interface to skip most of the manual setup. See below.

Super Lazy Mode New v1.3

Super Lazy Mode is the umbrella switch that turns on every smart inference the app can make on your behalf, so adding a medication, setting reminder times, and reading the next dose become almost zero-effort.

How to enable it

1
Open the Settings tab (gear icon).
2
Scroll to the Interface section.
3
Tap the Super Lazy Mode toggle (sparkles icon) to turn it on. The toggle defaults to off so you have to opt in.
4
Tap See what is auto-filled just below the toggle to land on the dashboard.

What gets auto-filled when on

BehaviourWhat it does
Medication frequencyPre-selects once-daily for statins, twice-daily for metformin, etc., from the drug class.
Meal timingEmpty stomach for levothyroxine, with meal for NSAIDs, bedtime for statins.
Low-stock alertAuto-set to 7 days of supply.
"Use X times" chipOne-tap copy of an existing med's reminder times when both have the same frequency.
Conditions from your regimenSuggests medical conditions implied by your meds (statin -> Hyperlipidemia, etc.).
Reminder times from sleepReplaces 09:00 / 21:00 defaults with your median wake + bed times from Apple Health.
Faster dose confirmTake-button countdown drops from 5 s to 1.5 s, with a 5 s undo toast as the safety net.
Travel arrival promptOffers Travel Mode when your device detects you are in a different country.
Religious fasting auto-promptDetects Ramadan day 1 + Yom Kippur and offers Fasting Mode.
Defer non-critical reminders during sleepReminders that fall in your sleep window shift to wake hour. Critical meds keep their original time.
Lock Screen Live ActivityPins the next pending dose to the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island.

Per-category control

The dashboard shows every behaviour as its own toggle, so you can keep the master switch on but disable the bits you do not want. The whole list greys out when the master switch is off.

Lock Screen Live Activity New v1.3

ChronoPill can pin your next pending dose to the Lock Screen (and to the Dynamic Island on iPhone 14 Pro and newer) so you can see what is due without unlocking the phone. The activity updates as you take or skip doses.

Turn it on

1
Settings > Interface > Super Lazy Mode on.
2
Tap See what is auto-filled.
3
Toggle Lock Screen Live Activity on.
4
Verify iOS Settings > ChronoPill > Allow Live Activities is on.
5
Lock your phone. The next pending dose appears at the bottom of the Lock Screen.

What you see

Tap on the activity to open ChronoPill straight to the Today tab. From there, one more tap on the green checkmark marks the dose taken, the activity flashes a "Recorded" confirmation, then disappears.

Privacy redaction on Lock Screen New v1.3

Live Activities show the medication name by default so the dose is immediately recognisable, but you can hide it from anyone who picks up your locked phone.

Turn it on

1
Settings > Interface > See what is auto-filled.
2
Make sure Lock Screen Live Activity is on.
3
Toggle Hide medication name on Lock Screen on (the nested sub-toggle directly below).
With the redact toggle on, the Lock Screen banner shows "Medication / Reminder / 09:00" instead of "Lisinopril / 10 mg / 09:00". Inside the app, after Face ID / passcode, you still see the full information.

Sleep-aware reminder times

When Super Lazy Mode is on AND Apple Health has at least three nights of sleep data, ChronoPill replaces the default 09:00 / 21:00 reminder hours with your median wake and bed times (snapped to a 5-minute grid).

How it works

Defer non-critical reminders during sleep

Optional sub-toggle in the dashboard. When on, any reminder whose time falls inside your sleep window is shifted to your wake hour. The dose card surfaces a "Reminder defers to 06:45" badge so you can tell. Safety-critical classes (insulin, anticoagulants, antiepileptics, opioids, oncology, glucocorticoid taper) always fire at the original time regardless, since silencing them at 02:00 could cause real harm.

Religious fasting auto-prompt

On the first day of Ramadan (Islamic calendar month 9 day 1) or Yom Kippur (Hebrew calendar Tishrei 10), ChronoPill raises a one-tap alert offering to switch Fasting Mode on for the appropriate window.

The prompt fires at most once per day per fast, and only when Super Lazy Mode + the fasting-prompt sub-toggle are both on.

Travel auto-prompt

When your device detects you are in a country different from your stored home country, ChronoPill offers Travel Mode for that destination. Tapping Activate Travel Mode downloads the destination's medication reference database so you can scan local boxes and find equivalents for your home medications.

Symmetric prompt fires when you return home and Travel Mode is still on.

Apple Health import: allergies and conditions New v1.3

If your iPhone is linked to a US or EU health system that supports Apple Health Records (Epic MyChart, Kaiser, Mayo, etc.), you can import your patient-recorded allergies and medical conditions directly into your ChronoPill Health Profile.

How to import

1
Settings > Health Profile.
2
Scroll to Allergies or Medical Conditions.
3
Tap Import allergies from Apple Health or Import conditions from Apple Health (visible only when Super Lazy Mode is on).
4
iOS shows the per-type authorization modal. Accept.
5
Imported entries merge into your existing selection without displacing what you have already added manually.
ChronoPill reads only the displayable name from each FHIR AllergyIntolerance or Condition resource. Nothing is transmitted off-device. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > ChronoPill.

Apple Watch wrist double-tap

On Apple Watch Series 9 / Ultra 2 and newer running watchOS 11, you can mark a dose taken with the system double-tap gesture (touch your index finger and thumb together twice). ChronoPill's Take button is registered as the primary action.

Older Apple Watch models keep the normal tap-on-screen behaviour.

Safety carve-outs (always manual)

Some drug classes carry such individualized dosing that ChronoPill never silently pre-fills frequency or meal timing for them, even when Super Lazy Mode is on. You always pick the values explicitly.

Classes that always require an explicit choice:

FAQ

I activated the Lock Screen Live Activity toggle but I see nothing on Lock Screen.

Check, in order: (1) iOS Settings > ChronoPill > Allow Live Activities is on. (2) iOS Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Allow Access When Locked > Live Activities is on. (3) You have at least one pending dose for today on the Today tab. (4) Force-kill ChronoPill and reopen. The dashboard "Live Activity status" row (visible when the Lock Screen toggle is on) will tell you exactly what is blocking.

Why does the activity disappear when I tap it?

Fixed in v1.3 build 2. If you still see this, force-kill the app and reopen.

Can I run ChronoPill without Super Lazy Mode?

Yes. Super Lazy Mode is opt-in. With it off, every field is manual exactly as before. The smart inferences are conveniences, never required.

Where is my medication data stored?

On your device, encrypted at rest. Optional iCloud sync is being scoped for a future release. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.

I do not see "Import from Apple Health" buttons in my Health Profile.

The buttons surface only when Super Lazy Mode is on. Turn it on in Settings > Interface, then revisit the Allergies / Conditions sections.

I am on Apple Watch Series 6. Why does the wrist double-tap not mark my doses taken?

The wrist double-tap gesture requires Apple Watch Series 9 / Ultra 2 or newer plus watchOS 11. On older Watches, tap the on-screen Take button as usual.
